Projet de Renforcement des Capacités de la GouvernanceFinancièreet de Contrôle de la République de Djibouti (IGE) contributed to the establishment and operation of a sustainable accountability unit in the Executive Branch of Government. This unit provided quality inputs downstream to the Chamber of Accounts and Budgetary Discipline and upstream to the National Assembly. Moreover, by supporting the strengthening of the institutional and human capacity of the Supreme Court, the project made contribution to the consolidation of the state of law in Djibouti and to the improvement of the performance of the judiciary to discharge its constitutional mandate as one of the accountability institution in the Judiciary.

The main goal of the “Projet de Renforcement des Capacités de la Gouvernance Financière et de Contrôle de la République de Djibouti” was to improve economic and financial governance in the country. The project had three specific objectives: (i) to build institutional and human capacity of Djibouti’s Inspection Généraled’Etat in the Prime Minister’s Office; (ii) to strengthen institutional and human capacity of Djibouti’s National Assembly to perform its control functions of the allocation and utilization of public resources by the Executive and Judiciary branches of government; and (iii) to strengthen institutional and human capacity of Djibouti’s Supreme Court to enable it to effectively undertake its constitutional functions in the financial accountability chain in the Judiciary.
