The Economic Policy Analysis Unit of the Ivorian Centre for Economic and Social Research (CAPEC) was established in 1993 under the support of the Ivorian Centre for Economic and Social Research (CIRES). It was aimed at strengthening local capacity in the analysis and management of macroeconomic policies with a view to contributing to the search for solutions to the economic difficulties facing Cote d’Ivoire.
The goal of CAPEC-CIRES was to strengthen its institutional platform and consolidate its achievements so that it can mature into a sustainable locus of excellence, capable of supporting and enhancing the capacity of the Government of Cote d’Ivoire. CAPEC-CIRES was to effectively guide and manage post-conflict policy, poverty reduction strategy and development efforts in the country, in partnership with other stakeholders such as the donor community, the private sector and civil society.
