The research and capacity building orientation of EEA/EEPRI Phase I largely focused on enhancing rapid economic growth, improved human development, democratization and governance as well as improving public sector institutional performance. Results of the first phase showed a strong performance, earning the program a reputation for credible policy-relevant research. At its 34th Regular Meeting, in December 2005, the Executive Board approved a grant of US$ 800 000 to EEA/EEPRI Phase II.
The overall goal was to improve the policy making process in Ethiopia for sustained economic growth and poverty reduction.
