In 2000, the Executive Board of ACBF approved a Grant of US$ 1,1 million for four years to the Government of Democratic Republic of São Tome and Princípe for the implementation of the Project for Capacity Building Program for Poverty Reduction in the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe (PRECASP).
The main goal of the Capacity Building Program for the Reduction of Poverty in the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe was to improve the performance of the public sector so as to enable it to enable it effectively participate in the formulation, implementation and management of the government development policy and strategy of reducing poverty in the country. This two objectives were to (i) to build/strengthen human resources in primary economic and sectoral ministries and government institutions involved economic policy and strategy formulation and management and public sector reforms for poverty reduction in Sao Tome and Principe; and (ii) to build/strengthen the institutional capacity of economic and sectoral ministries and government institutions responsible for economic policy and strategy formulation and management and public sector reforms for poverty reduction in Sao Tome and Principe.
